Tuesday Evening
Mom is hanging in there. She has been up and walking a bit, but she still has the drain tubes in. They have her sitting in a chain so the new lung will expand and fill the chest cavity. She would rather be in bed and is still in quite a bit of pain, but the "good meds" are keeping that at bay. After sitting on our duffs all day, Dad and I were asking if we could get one of those handy buttons we could push for our pain. We didn't get too far wit that request.
Her nurse today, Jesse, was fantastic and spent a lot of time with mom, listening and answering her questions. Every day brings progress and there are no complications thus far. The next critical step is to get the drain tubes out. Once those are out, they can pull the epidural that is being used to administer the pain medication and get her up and walking. We are still hoping to get her to the apartment sometime this weekend.
Again - a million thanks to everyone for their support. Mom has gained a lot of encouragement from your messages.
More tomorrow..............

Hey again from West Virginia! I wrote a message earlier but I think it got lost in whereverland. So glad to hear how well you're doing, we're thinking about you lots here in WV. Thank you Max for posting updates about your mama! I bet it's a lil tough for you to leave but she will be in good hands with my cousin Suzanne. It's so great that Muffy might go home this weekend. From what I hear about when your mom and my cousin get together they might get discharged a little early...maybe with a security guard escort? Anyway, at least they will have fun. Please pass on my good wishes, Jennie

Everything is sounding so good to all of us. We think of you several times a day. Can hardly wait until we can talk on the phone again. Max, thanks for the wonderful web site. It helped all of us know what is going on. Really appreciate it. You have a safe trip home. Muff, the Christmas present arrived today. Can hardly wait to open it. Keep up the good work and attitude. You are on the downhill side now even though it may not seem like it at time. Love to all Sherry & Wes

YaHoo Muffy!!! Eddie Shaw called me tonight and gave me the great news. I screamed awesome and Juanita looked at me and said "Muffy got a transplant?" Juanita and I are really excited for you and your family. As soon as I got off the phone with Eddy I called and talked to Glen, he gave me the details. I called and told Bruce the news and he was really thrilled for you and your family. Glen told me you had really good color and overall he thought you were doing well. It's going to be hard for me to sleep tonight. I can't wait to speak with you. Glen said it would be ok to call early in the day, you are still recovering, We love you and will talk to you tomorrow. Mf
